Strategy for 55 and up
For clients 55+ who aren't focused on cash value — what's your most affordable option for a guaranteed death benefit? Overfunding isn't realistic at that age, so I'm trying to keep it simple and cost-effective. Midland dropped GUL (the Protector is still an IUL), National Life doesn't have it, Allianz is IUL only. What carriers or strategies are you using to keep premiums low while still locking in a guaranteed DB?

North American's Custom Guarantee UL has been solid for this. Conservative pricing, true GDB, and you can dial the coverage period to keep premium manageable at 55. Worth running an illustration.

We've been using Protective Classic Choice UL. Premiums are competitive at that age band and the guarantee holds. Pair it with a health class bump if they qualify and you can really tighten up cost.
